Hand-painted Tahitian Pua ‘Ora sarong : a hand-painted tropical floral design.
This Polynesian sarong is called Pua ‘Ora, which means “living flowers” in Tahitian. And that’s exactly how this design makes you feel: clusters of red heliconia, white water lilies, hibiscus, frangipani, and banana leaves come together to form a tropical garden painted directly onto the blue cotton fabric. Each element has its place, each color its role. The result is dense without being overloaded.
A Tahitian pareo with Polynesian forest motifs.
This Tahitian sarong draws on the most generous aspects of the islands’ flora. Heliconia, a tropical flower shaped like a lobster claw, sits alongside water lilies and frangipani in a composition that evokes the lush gardens of Moorea. Hand-painted by local artisans in Moorea, each piece is unique and will never be reproduced identically.
How to wear the Pua ‘Ora pareo?
The 180×110 cm size in lightweight cotton voile offers great freedom. Tied at the bust, it becomes a long dress; tied at the hip, it transforms into a low-rise skirt. Draped over the shoulders in the evening, it makes a tropical shawl; spread out on the sand, it makes a generous beach towel. The deep blue background pairs naturally with white or beige.
