Tahitian Pua o te Māra Hand-Painted Pareo

37,00

Sometimes, a few flowers are enough to tell the story of an entire region. On this Tahitian pareo, red heliconia starts at the left corner like a wave, carrying with it orange hibiscus and banana leaves, then letting purple orchids and tiare flowers drift toward the right edge of the fabric, against a fuchsia background that makes every color pop.

It is the South Pacific in motion, carried on a hand-painted veil, with the same narrative freedom as Polynesian tapas, where each artisan composes without constraint.

Pua o te Māra, in reo tahiti, is the flower of the garden, all the flowers together. This Polynesian pareo lives up to its name: no star flower, no hierarchy, just a composition that exudes the tropical garden of Moorea in all its generosity.

A unique floral composition painted in Moorea

The artisan’s hand freely traced this floral arch onto the soft cotton veil in Moorea, French Polynesia, without using a template or reproduction.

The arch, which crosses the entire fabric from one edge to the other, is applied in a single stroke, which explains why each piece is slightly different, in the same spirit as the wood carvings of French Polynesia, where no two pieces are exactly alike.
