Hand-Painted Tahitian Miti Pareo

37,00

A tropical garden runs along the edge, set against a deep red background. Orange birds of paradise, purple hibiscus, white tiare flowers, large dark green banana leaves. On this Tahitian pareo, each plant has its place, each color plays its role, just like in the gardens of Moorea where the vegetation grows dense and lush, without being asked to do anything.

This same attention to detail can be found in the Polynesian tapas hand-painted in the same workshop. Miti, in reo Tahiti, means sea, salt.

The red that dominates the background of this Polynesian pareo is that of the sunset over the water, when the sky and the lagoon merge and the flowers on the shore seem to burn with the same light.

A hand-painted Tahitian pareo

What distinguishes a hand-painted Tahitian pareo from a printed one is exactly what we see here: the gesture, the decision, the unexpected.

The bird of paradise is not centered because a machine placed it there. It is there because a hand placed it there, on that cotton veil stretched out in the Moorea workshop, on that day, in that light. That is why no two pieces are ever quite alike, just like the Polynesian pouches created with the same artisanal care.

Material & care

  • Material: Cotton voile, special clothing paint
  • Size: 180 x 110 cm
  • Washing: Machine wash at 30° maximum
  • Drying: Air dry or tumble dry on low heat

The colors visible on your screen may vary slightly depending on your device. The actual red is bold, deep, and bright, true to the light of Moorea.

This Tahitian pareo can be worn both on the beach and in the evening, tied at the waist or over the shoulders, and makes an ideal gift from Polynesia, just like black pearl bracelets.
