Replace your fabric car ceiling light that is getting dirty, starting to tear and peel off
If your car's headliner starts to come off and fall off, it is necessary to change it as soon as possible to avoid an accident.
The Ventanou shop and our partner describe how to do this:
1- Place the old fabric on the new headliner
2- Recover the cardboard support used to hold the canopy behind the rear window or make it identical
3- Glue it on the outside of the cardboard
4- Put the hoops in the new canopy
5- Put the cardboard support around the rear window.
6- Place the hoops without tension.
7- Stick pieces of adhesive tape every 2 cm on the part of the fabric which will be under the rear deck
8- Make the lateral tension by pulling symmetrically the fabrics on each side of the hoops. This is where 4 or 6 hands are needed. You may have to slit the fabric sheath in which the hoop passes.
9- Temporarily hold the fabric in semi-tension on the door frame with numerous clothes pegs.
10- Finish the tensioning from the rear part to the door posts.
11- Lightly glue the fabric to the metal under the door joint with a line of trimming glue. Maintain until dry with clothes pegs
12- At this stage, the fabric must be OK up to the doorpost, otherwise rebalance the tensions.
13- Screw the front panel in place over the fabric. The fabric is protruding from underneath, tension the hoops and balance the lateral tension of the front part. If the fabric wrinkles when the screws are passed, make vertical "buttonholes" with a cutter. They are invisible because they are behind the front panel.
14- As for the rear panel, glue and tighten the side tension on the front door sills. Fit the joints.
15- Finish by trimming the excess fabric above the windshield under the front panel.
